I’ve just read an interesting feature in Bizarre Magazine about ALT Porn.

Kimberly Kane is on the cover with Sasha Grey and the two girls help take us through the history of ALT Porn with an amazing kinky girl-on-girl pictorial in the mag. Check it out if you can.

Anyway, some of the points made were very good. ALT Porn was a reaction to all the samey big-boobed blonde porn that was being made.. all of that stuff was very formulaic and would always start and finish the same way.. with the same thing in the middle. While people were still getting off on porn it was also getting a little boring for all the hipsters. Porn needed a kick up the pants..

ALT Porn was born!

In ALT Porn nothing was guaranteed. You put the DVD in the drive and press play not having any idea what you’re going to get.. and more than this.. if you’ve seen one ALT flick you have not seen them all… they’re all completely different from each other. The only thing linking ALT Porn together is the fact that it is different from the old, stale porn we were used to.

The article compares ALT Porn to the grunge of the 90’s. Music labels like Sub Pop churned out all this strange rock but if you listen to Nirvana, Soundgarden, Sebadoh and bands like Sonic Youth and Pearl Jam it’s all different… Earlier on I was thinking about a couple of Kimberly Kane scenes and the song “Plush” by the Stone Temple Pilots came into my head. Another grunge band that are nothing like Nirvana.

Someone looking at ALT Porn might say that all the girls have tattoos and piercings.. but KK is un-tattooed and she is, according to Bizarre, “ALT Porn in one person”. What you get with Kim Kane is creative, dark, changeable, fun and very very sexy.. check out the scene with Charlotte Stokely in her signature “Naked and Famous” DVD and compare it to other scenes on the same DVD.. they’re all different and sizzling hot.
